Stigma

We wish it wasn’t the case, but sadly a stigma still exists around all forms of addiction and anyone struggling with one.

We believe nobody should be disrespected simply because they’re going through a tough time. People experiencing addiction are, first and foremost, people, who deserve to be treated with kindness.

Possibly the biggest hurdle a recovering long term drug or alcohol user has to overcome is not physical addiction or psychological cravings – but trying to break through the ‘wall of exclusion’ that makes it very hard for them to get into new routines or to develop friendships, skills or hobbies. People can, and do, recover though.

Have a look through our pages to help understand addictions, and have a think about our own attitudes and how can we show compassion. We can all play a part in making other people’s lives that little bit easier.
